Reading’s practice comprises sculpture, animation, sound and spoken word, often combined as mixed media installation. Internal organs, bodily orifices and skeletal structures populate the work in fragmented landscapes where the distinction between the inside and the outside of the body becomes blurred.

The cartoon landscape informs both the sculptural assemblage and the video animations. Looped animations of floating objects exist in a constant state of becoming. The exhibition space becomes a physically animated environment, in which the figure and its surroundings interconnect. Performance often takes the form of texts addressed directly to objects, simultaneously responding to their affect whilst also projecting meaning.
