Simultaneously trying to look backwards and forwards Jamie Lake seeks out both instability and history whilst playing with marks of alteration, disintegration fragility and dissolution.  Using materials which drip split fracture and rot the works push temporality to the fore and by doing so he is able to explore his own brief relationship to physical and political landscapes.

Political protest, transgression and walking, and the general regulation of the body all inform his work alongside a more elliptical exploration of mortality fear and hope.

Lake studied literature at London University and went on to complete an MA in cultural theory at Southampton University. After some years as a lawyer specialising in high profile violence and public protest cases he completed in 2014 his second MA with merit at Central Saint Martins in Fine Art.

His hobbies are enjoying himself and daydreaming.
