The Factory Theatre Workshop is a women-led theatre company, created to platform women’s voices and develop emerging women-identifying artists.

OUR ETHOS IS SIMPLE. We want to rectify the issue of representation in the industry. We want to make politically engaged and genre-defying new-work. We want to challenge the idea of ‘serious theatre’ by creating experimental and fun work that interrogates conventional, patriarchal structures.

We have a permanent base in The Bomb Factory Art Foundation, where we run workshops and new-writing nights and stage full-length productions. We provide a free rehearsal space for emerging women writers and theatre-makers that we want to help explore and expand their practice.

Merle has performed and directed at the University of Manchester, Dorchester Arts Theatre, Camden Peoples’ Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe. The most recent production she directed and starred in was shortlisted for the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence. Merle is represented for acting by Lou Coulson Associates. Merle is represented as an actress by Lou Coulson associates.

Love Come Down, February 2020, was our first sell-out showcase, featuring 7 New Writers, creating work based on the theme of Valentine’s Day. From this show, Helena Snider is developing her piece, Nightfall, for the White Bear Theatre, and India Harrison Peppe’s Upload to Clout 9 was shortlisted for Flux Theatre’s Emerge Night.

Watch this space for our upcoming New Writing Festival, currently featuring Philippa Lawford's 'Fracture' and India Harrison Peppe's 'Out With A Bang', and Merle Wheldon Posner's 'In All Its Glory' in the summer of 2021. We will shortly be doing a call out for other emerging writers to get involved.

Producer Call Out
The Factory Theatre Workshop is looking to connect with an emerging Producer who is keen to be a long-term member of our women-led theatre company. The Factory Theatre Workshop is a new-writing theatre company permanently based in the Bomb Factory Arts Foundation in Archway. In February of 2020, we hosted our sell-out debut show Love Come Down.

Over Lockdown, we ran a monthly newsletter, platforming the work of emerging artists across different disciplines. In the next few months, we are gearing up for the re-opening of our live theatre space. We have two projects in development, and we are looking for an ambitious producer who is passionate about women's new-writing to join our team. The ideal candidate will have some experience in producing live theatre and securing funding.
