Emmett Kierans

Emmet Kierans was born in Limerick, Ireland and is currently based in London. He studied painting at the
Limerick School of Art and Design and received an MFA from the Glasgow School of Art. He works
predominantly through the medium of painting alternating between figurative and abstract work. The themes
most central to his work are of the interplay between the material and immaterial worlds of physical reality and
conscious experience. The abstract works are a way of thinking about how the mind interacts with and
experiences the outside world while the figurative strand is more interested in experience on a more emotional and psychological level.
In 2016 Emmet set up his own business, No Such Thing Studios, which specialises in bespoke design and build for film and events as well as furniture and joinery. He has exhibited widely and has been a lecturer and
tutor at The Limerick School of Art and Design, The Wexford School of Art and Design and The Burren College
of Art.
