Yang Xu
Xu Yang, Shandong, lives and works in London, UK. She studied Fine Art Painting at Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL) and graduated with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2020. Xu Shortlisted for Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Award (2025)at National Portrait gallery, recently she was awarded a commission by Tate Collective for LGBTQIA+ history month (2023). Xu was the winner of the Barbican Arts Group Trust ArtWorks Open (2019) and Xu was shortlisted for the Contemporary Young Artist Prize (2020). Xu participated in the Vannucci Artist Residency (Umbria, Italy) supported by the Deighton Foundation (2022) and the Dio Horia Residency in Athens (2022).

Duo exhibitions include "Tomorrow will be the Most Beautiful Day of Your Life" with Victoria Cantons, Studio West, London (2021). Recent group exhibitions include National Portrait gallery (London); Wellcome Collection (London); Fredericks & Freiser (New York); Tank (Shanghai); Galerie lange + pult (Zürich); Spurs Gallery (Beijing); Last Tango Kunstverein (Zurich); Bertson Bhattacharjee Gallery(London); Simon Lee gallery (London); 180 Strand (London); Hive Art Centre(Beijing); Saatchi Gallery (London); Josh Lilley, (London). Xu contributed to collaborative art projects 'Imaging Technologies' with Painting Research at Wimbledon College of Arts at Tate Modern, London (2017) and 'Here she Comes' with Monster Chetwynd at the Royal Festival Hall, London (2016).
