Sondliwe Pamisa
Sondliwe Pamisa is a Zimbabwean-British interdisciplinary artist living and working in London, UK.
Drawing upon literary, cinematic and musical influence to produce freeform narratives that capture the expansiveness of the Afropolitan experience, Pamisa’s figurative and abstract works examine the complexities of diasporic living.
Themes of liberation, sovereignty and legacy coalesce into scenic vignettes that transfigure cultural clashes and the historical narratives of a global post-colonial society, particularly those of the artist’s native Zimbabwe.
A recipient of the Colart + Griffin Gallery Residency (2021), and a fellow of Adidas London & Guap Magazine’s ‘Original Creator’s Network’ Class of 2024; his work has been commissioned and exhibited in group and solo shows including Piecemeal, Livesey Exchange (2023), En Route, Southwark Park Galleries (2024) and Stories We Could Tell, Roundhouse (2024).
