FREED FROM DESIRE - Group Exhibition at The Bomb Factory Marylebone
We are excited to announce our forthcoming exhibition Freed From Desire opening in our Marylebone Gallery on Thursday the 8th of October.
Freed from Desire is an immersive exhibition about reclaiming space as an act of resistance. When people have neither money nor a say, creative moments erupt outside organisational authority.
Against a backdrop of unemployment, financial hardship and the implementation of Poll Tax, the Acid House movement claimed warehouses and disused buildings, making room for a creative counter-culture beyond those systems: a space of radical inclusivity where, for a time, the barriers of class, gender and race fell away. When the movement swept the UK in the mid 1980s, the government’s response was to make such gatherings illegal. The show upholds the same conviction, whereby gathering itself becomes an act of refusal, and joy, and is something worth protecting.
Through ambitious installations, performances and music, Freed from Desire rebuilds these iconic spaces. Historically, The Bomb Factory occupies and transforms buildings across the city, making art studios, galleries and education spaces accessible to all.

At the opening we will host iconic DJ’s from the Acid House and Balearic scene, including, Terry Farley (@terryfarley, Nancy Noise (@nancynoisedj ) and Pete Heller ( @peteskiheller) , who will be performing in the gallery 8pm - 12am.
