Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and a much better New Year, from the staff and artists of The Bomb Factory Art Foundation.
Although it has been a year of political discontent The Bomb Factory has grown and expanded beyond expectation, we are now able to provide over 100 artists with affordable studios in our four London locations: Archway, Chelsea, Covent Garden and more at our fabulous new site and massive gallery in Marylebone Road.
We have delivered a diverse and inclusive exhibition programme across all of our galleries with over 20 shows of exciting and thought-provoking work, from the digital explorations of Zongbo Jiang's environmental 'Shared Planet' to the populist fake food extravaganza 'Let Them Eat Fake!' We also facilitated artists' talks and discussions around the themes of male mental health and human migration. We collaborated with The Hepatitis C charity group with two 'Art on a Postcard' exhibitions and the Lux moving image group with a film event 'Bring your own Beamer'. Our education programme has also expanded across all of our sites, highlights include our fantastic free Easter and Summer Art workshops for young people, facilitated by many of our artists as well as Ceramics classes for staff of the Whittington Hospital, and our regular workshops for local schools and community groups in our locales.
We also have some great personal stories of our artists working charitably in the community; Turner prize winner Mark Wallinger unveiled his mural for Felix Project and continued to work with local schools, this time on a digital artwork for Yerbury School.
Sol Golden Sato created an incredible, enormous painting in the streets of Portobello with the aid of 50 happy paint-smeared toddlers and children. Ben Foot and Valentina Floris continued their sterling work with Autistic children at the Garden School and provided Hackney with an expansive community-based project involving over 500 residents titled 'Electric Bloom'.
We have to thank all of you for following us as well as all of our artists, without whom none of this would be possible.
In 2023 we have big plans and even more more developments, so please keep on watching!
Many thanks to our artist Wankers of the World for our Christmas card design.
