The Birds Were Here First - The Bomb Factory Holborn

The Bomb Factory is pleased to announce a new exhibition by Sam Nicholson curated by Maria Dragoi

‘The Birds Were Here First’ is the first exhibition in our new Holborn gallery, and will feature a new body of paintings that take reference from psychedelia and quantum physics. “I could lie head to toe with the smallest of field mice if I wanted to

I could sleep on the backs of birds resting in pockets of warm air if I wanted to

But I do not.

I want to beckon the mosquito dancing with its friend

Around the metal lamp in the the corner of my room, over to me.

I want to hold it. I can hold it.

Each limb gets its own fingertip to rest on.”

Sam Nicholson (b. 1999) is a London based artist with a primary focus on painting. With literary, scientific and folkloric influence, the works are built from heavy layers of intensely coloured oil paint, smushed into hallucinatory science-fiction landscapes. His work is as much a research and storytelling tool as it is a celebration of the medium’s physicality. The private view is on the 3rd of August at 6pm, at our Holborn site. The show runs until the 20th. We hope to see you there!

PRIVATE VIEW: Thursday 3rd August, 6 - 9pm
