The Bomb Factory Art Foundation is pleased to present UNNATURAL, an inaugural exhibition by sculptor Joe Rush curated by Pallas Citroen.

Founder of Mutoid Waste Company and a longstanding presence at Glastonbury Festival, Rush has spent over four decades building large-scale environments and mechanical creatures from scrap metal, engines and discarded machinery. This series presents an imagined world of hybrid forms. Half machine, half animal, the sculptures merge organic anatomy with industrial materials, suggesting an evolution redirected by human industry.

Throughout the exhibition, Rush assembles a speculative Unnatural history, a constructed ecosystem of creatures formed from scrap metal, engines and the mechanical debris of contemporary life.

“My imaginary worlds are dreams, some are happy dreams, some are nightmares and some are prayers. They reflect my view and my concerns for the world we live in and the planet we inhabit.” Joe Rush
