WEIGHT OF THE WORLD - Dominic Dispirito at The Bomb Factory Holborn

Running from the 19th of March to the 3rd of April at our Holborn gallery, Weight of the World presents a new body of oil paintings by Dominic Dispirito, in which the human figure becomes a psychologically charged landscape.

Across the works, bodies stretch, fold and reorganise under invisible pressure. Through fluid, rhythmic brushwork, Dispirito translates internal states into visceral form, capturing endurance and hyper vigilance alongside a quieter sense of desperation. Skin becomes terrain, and flesh acts as a record of persistence, with figures hovering between fragility and resilience.

Rather than depicting suffering directly, the paintings embrace distortion as a means of revealing psychological truth. Each work holds tension between vulnerability and strength, conveying the effort involved in simply staying intact.

At a time when bodies are increasingly mediated through screens and curated digital selves, Weight of the World insists on physical presence. The exhibition returns us to the heaviness and materiality of the human body, inviting reflection on the burden of being human and the quiet resilience required to carry it.
