LEARNING & PARTICIPATION

At The Bomb Factory, our Learning & Participation Programme is at the heart of what we do. Bringing together artists, young people, schools, and communities, it creates meaningful ways for people to connect with and take part in contemporary art.

LEARNING

Exploring creativity for young people

Our Learning programme gives young people from primary school up to age 25 the chance to explore contemporary art in fun and meaningful ways. We run year-long programmes with workshops, studio visits, and creative projects that go beyond the classroom. By working with local schools and partners such as City Lions, Camden Learning, and 11 by 11, we aim to inspire curiosity, experimentation, and confidence in young people. We also collaborate with organisations including Centrepoint, The Foundling Museum, and National Saturday Club to ensure our programmes reach those who need access to the arts most.

PARTICIPATION

Opening up contemporary art to everyone

Our Participation programme brings our galleries and events to life for people of all ages and backgrounds. Through workshops, talks, screenings, and Q&As led by artists, visitors can engage directly with the art rather than just observe it. Open events such as studio visits, “Horse’s Mouth” critiques, and Open Days offer behind-the-scenes access to what it’s like to be an artist. Participation is about connection, curiosity, and creativity, offering hands-on ways for everyone to enjoy and explore contemporary art.

CAREERS

Helping young people and emerging artists grow

Our Careers programme offers young people and emerging artists practical experience and guidance in the arts. Internships allow participants to work across different areas at The Bomb Factory, learn new skills, receive mentorship, and showcase their work in our Intern Show. Short-term summer placements give younger students a taste of the arts community and real-world experience in what it’s like to work in an art organisation. Careers talks, mentorship, and workshops provide advice, inspiration, and networks to help participants build sustainable creative careers.
